Project Overview
- Develop and apply cutting-edge computational methods to handle the vast and information-rich datasets of Mass Spectrometry Imaging (MSI).
- Collaborate with experts in Analytical Chemistry to retain critical data and discover novel chemical fingerprints linked to cancer, multiple sclerosis, and more.
Academic Environment
- Work under the supervision of Prof. Orcun Goksel in the Computer-assisted Applications in Medicine group.
- Engage with the Image Analysis unit at the Department of Information Technology and the Department of Chemistry – BMC.
- Benefit from the eSSENCE graduate school in data-intensive sciences and SciLifeLab collaborations.
Research Goals
- Innovate in large-scale data analysis and deep learning for MSI, leveraging high-dimensional spectral and spatial information.

- Full-time paid position with a focus on PhD research and education, with a temporary contract during the studies (of typically 4-5 years).
- Possibility of departmental duties (teaching/admin) of up to 20% time.

- Master’s in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Strong background in machine learning, image analysis, and programming (Python/Matlab).
